The Healthy Schools Plus Award focuses on embedding good practice around health issues in schools and to give children and young people the best possible opportunity to develop positive healthy behaviours.
At Manorfield CE Primary School, we work on supporting children to be healthy in a wide range of areas, including food and nutrition; mental health; social, moral, spiritual and cultural development (SMSC), personal, social, citizenship and health education (PSCHE) and physical activity.
As a result of this, Manorfield achieved the Healthy Schools Plus Award in January 2022.
There is a well-established correlation between health and educational achievement, as well as pupil behaviour. Schools play an important role in supporting the health and wellbeing of children and young people. By working with parents we can work together to raise children’s awareness of the importance of good health and wellbeing and how they can achieve this by making healthier choices, ensuring they get the best start in life. We work with parents and children to provide them with information and experiences to develop their understanding of keeping healthy.
